Having just finished reading ”Prosperity Consciousness” by Chusita and Steven
Bowman I was presented with the opportunity to “live in/as the question” – a concept that
struck me as so unique and powerful! Now ready to prove the truth of it, I accepted an
invitation to spend the first week of May in Sedona – my first visit to this magical place.
There were three of us – Nancy, Margaret and myself – close friends and
metaphysicians together for six days, eager to find out “What could be better than this?”
each day staying open to what the universe might provide – all the while anticipating
moment-by-moment serendipitous synchronicities in Sedona. And indeed there were
many!
Our first “better than this” was meeting Dennis Andres, known as Mr. Sedona, the
author of many books about Sedona, among them “What is a Vortex?” He took us on a
trail, very bumpy and rocky and off the beaten path, to a “moonscape.” There standing
on a flat rock surface dotted with small stones and rocks we gazed in awe at the red and
white rock mountains surrounding us and learned about the geological history of the area
with its varied plant life.
Many other “better than this” experiences delighted us each day – a $15 gift
certificate for a meal the following day when the soup Margaret and I ordered for dinner
ran out (even though we had a sandwich as a substitute); the gift of chocolate chip
cookies with our sandwiches at the airport; Nancy finding an exquisite tourmaline
pendant that moved her to tears as it spoke to her soul the moment she set eyes on it –
(and of course she did buy it!); a free concert where Jesse Kulu played his magical bamboo flutes crafted by him from bamboo growing in Oak Creek Canyon. This
haunting sound was accompanied by birdsong as a bird outside the hotel sang the whole
way through the flute playing – even stopping when the flute stopped and starting again
with each new piece. This unexpected duet was a melodious marvel!
“What could be better than this?”
Our drive to Jerome, a once thriving mining town and now a ghost of its former
self with its fascinating history and Old West feel, offered us another spectacular view of
this mountainous area. Snugly situated in the heart of Boynton Canyon, the beautiful
Enchantment Resort provided us the opportunity to enjoy the fabulous view while having
lunch in their restaurant. At their MiAmo Spa I tasted their latest smoothie -an
avocalada- concocted just the evening before – unusually delicious!
“What could be better than this?”
An invitation to Mr. Sedona’s unique workshop for seasoned metaphysicians was
an unexpected treat. The day began with a gentle trek at Grasshopper Point after which
Dennis led us on a beautiful meditation there by a creek to the sound of a waterfall and a
gentle breeze blowing. After a delicious Aryuvedic lunch we participated in a lively
discussion about honoring our Light Shadow. We left feeling mellow and high at the
same time!! And that evening we had another synchronistic delight – the opportunity for
the three of us to have a channeling session with Dennis’s friend – who just happened to
be in Sedona for a relative’s wedding and had called the day before to let him know about
her visit!
“What could be better than this?”
And so we spent an amazing six days, holding the resonance of “living in/as the
question “ while moment by moment appreciating the joy, the fun and the wonder of this
exhilarating experience. Even our flights left and arrived on time!
I hope that this description of our time in Sedona – living in/as the question
inspires you to have similar magical experiences! Just keep asking “What could be better
than this?” and see what happens!
And please let me know how it does! It’s bound to be wonderful!
